Welcome!

Welcome to New Wilmington Child and Family Counseling’s Web and Blog site.  The goal of this website is to introduce our practice by sharing what motivates our desire to help children and families, to share latest information on mental health topics and treatment interventions, and to provide an interactive forum for you to share information and ask questions.

My interest in the field of psychology began in mid life after I began gaining insight into purposes of behaviors.  Specifically my own behavior and those closest to me.

As a child, before ADHD was a diagnosis, I had symptoms of inattention and distractibility.  Consequently navigating throughout grade and high school was disastrous.  Unfortunately it wasn’t just my grades that suffered, but also my self worth and self-esteem that were seriously lacking.  The result of years of poor academic performance, inability to successfully navigate a childhood social world and mounting anxiety about not measuring up curtailed the ability to make wise young adult decisions.  I began reading voraciously, on mental health topics.  It all brought me to a place of understanding and led to formal education, employment, licensur, and here today to New Wilmington Child and Family Counseling.

For answers to why you yourself feel compelled to help others you may want to read and study The Wounded Healer by Henri J. M. Mouwen.

It is my strong hope and desire that you will find a resting stop at New Wilmington Child and Family Counseling where you can find hope and healing and your world will be, for you and those you love, a brighter place.
